Influenza
Flu got you feeling blue?
Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a viral infection that attacks the respiratory system - the nose, throat, and lungs. Symptoms often include fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, runny nose, headaches, and fatigue. The flu can range from mild to severe and, in some cases, lead to complications, especially in vulnerable populations.
Access Telehealth allows you to consult with healthcare providers from the safety and comfort of your home, offering guidance, treatment recommendations, and support to help you recover from the flu and manage its symptoms effectively.
Precautions
- Rest as much as possible. Your body needs energy to fight the virus, so give yourself permission to take it easy and get plenty of sleep.
- Stay hydrated by drinking lots of fluids. Water, broth, herbal teas, and electrolyte-replenishing beverages can help prevent dehydration caused by fever, sweating, and increased respiratory rate.
- Use over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers and fever reducers, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), to alleviate pain and lower a fever. Be sure to follow the dosing recommendations on the package or those provided by a healthcare provider.
Common Medications
